Everyday Questions: Part One – Beginners

Welcome back to my blog!

THANK YOU for clicking that annoying link I keep sharing everywhere or maybe in your search engine! It means a lot that I peaked your interest even if it’s the slightest bit 🙂

If you didn’t know, I’ve been working at Sephora for almost a year now and I have noticed a lot of people ask me the same questions every other day. If they aren’t looking for a specific product or location of a brand around the store they ask questions along the lines of …

If you are a MAKEUP FANATIC like I am then you probably thought the above questions were silly or probably even common sense since makeup IS our second nature. BUT best believe ladies and gents there ARE people out there who don’t share the same interests as us and are LOST in the world of makeup!

IF you are that person, lost in the world of makeup well then this is the POST for you. Don’t be ashamed, don’t be scared, and overall do not feel threatened. I can’t stress any of that enough, and those are the last things I want any person to feel like because makeup is hard, its confusing and sometimes it just does not make sense. *MAKEUP GURUS ARE USING SILICON AS A MAKEUP SPONGE…..LIKE WAT*

SO please, if you have a question that I didn’t answer this time around ASK! Ask it anonymously if you need to, but don’t have shame. More than likely someone else is asking the same question somewhere out there.

Today I’ll only be answering 5 of the top, most asked BASIC questions. These are my own opinions/answers i always appreciate constructive criticism! But please spare me the mean comments and keep them in your thoughts 🙂 ❤

Let’s get started 🙂

Q: WHAT IS CONCEALER?

A: Concealer’s main job is to diminish or hide any imperfections on the face. These imperfections could be blemishes, under eye circles, age spots, sun spots, hyperpigmentation, etc. Concealer can also be used as a ‘highlight’ when highlighting and contouring *not to be confused with an illuminator*

Q: WHAT IS FOUNDATION?

A: Foundation, is made to EVEN out our skin tone all over the face. **Note, concealer could also be used to even out skin tone in certain areas- and if applied all over the face**

Q: WHAT IS A CORRECTOR?

A: A corrector is A TYPE of concealer, so it does the same job. There are different correctors (different colors i.e, pink, lavander, yellow, green, orange/peach) each of these correctors either balances/adds radiance/reduces a specific area of the face. ALWAYS use a corrector FIRST, then follow with your concealer. **Note, each corrector is different for every persons skin tone** **Please refer to the picture above and feel free to click the link and explore how sephora color corrects!**

Q: WHERE SHOULD I APPLY MY CONCEALER?

A: This depends on you.. Do you have any areas of concern? Maybe you want to look more awake? If you’re like me and have acne scars you definitely will want to apply your concealer on those. Or if you don’t get enough sleep at night and have dark circles under your eyes – that’s another area you can apply your concealer!

Q: HOW SHOULD I APPLY MY FOUNDATION? WITH A BRUSH, OR A SPONGE?

screen-shot-2016-12-28-at-12-30-25-am

A: This in entirely on preference… I can honestly say I love beautyblender, I think they’re an awesome company with a great sponge and I can’t live without mine. BUT brushes are just as good. I personally use both.. I like to use the brush first then use my damp beauty blender & go over my foundation to defuse any fine lines/make sure everything is blended perfectly. Beautyblender’s just give you that smooth flawless finish. Brushes are nice because you can either get light or full coverage depending on which one you use. If you want a full coverage-finished look stick with a brush that has more density at the top (or a little stiffer) versus one that is fluffy and soft at the top, that will give you more of a natural/sheer finish – like you aren’t wearing any makeup at all.
