Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog and thank you for catching up with me today ❤
As I’ve been recovering from my hospitalization I’ve had more time on my hands to commit to blogging! Today I wanted to review ANOTHER one of my current liquid lipstick favorites! I know what you’re thinking… ‘another one? how many current liquid lipstick favorites does this girl have????’ well – a lot 🙂
YSL is the MOST EXPENSIVE liquid lipstick I own, so if you’re truly a cheapo like me, then skip this post NOW… Unless you’re naturally curious… Nothing new; I’ll be doing some pros and cons and lastly my honest true recommendation of this product.
LET’S GET STARTED!
*Keep in mind these are my own opinions. Products were bought with my own money unless stated otherwise. As an employee of Sephora, I was not paid nor told to post certain opinions by gaining any profit. As always thank you to Sephora and their partnership with certain brands.
In comparison to the number of lipsticks I own, YSL is truly different. Everything from the packaging, feel of the product, and consistency is unique compared to lipsticks from the drug store.
PROS: [outer packaging] gold, luxurious, illuminating – if you’ve ever come across a YSL gondola you will notice how luxurious everything appears. Each product is wrapped in a golden box. Presentation is very important to a brand like YSL, nice and polished. I appreciate the thought YSL beauty goes through to differentiate itself from other brands.
[sleek product] the look and feel of this particular product is just as luxurious as its gold packaging. Cube-like shape, gold top, clear bottom half and matted. Very sexy for a liquid lipstick.
[comfortable wear] this is hands down THE most comfortable liquid lipstick I’ve ever owned. The first time I tried this lipstick I knew I had to own it. The formula isn’t sticky, it’s smooth and glides on easily. It does dry down to a matte finish, no shine, but is NOT overly drying.
[travel friendly] I own A LOT of liquid lipsticks but this one is one of the smallest ones I own. A lot of lipsticks now a days have a cylinder-like elongated body (ex. Kat Von D Beauty Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks, Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks, etc.) I do want to note although this product is travel friendly, because of its smaller size, it has less product than others.
CONS: [not very long lasting] although it’s a matte and super comfortable I wouldn’t say it’s long lasting.. to MY standards. I’d say it’s long lasting but to a certain extent. This liquid lipstick actually STAINS your lips, so even if a majority of the lipstick comes off a faint stain, or lighter color of the original is still seen. For ME, I like liquid lipsticks that actually hold it’s color and stays on – not gradually get lighter. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE this liquid lipstick, it’s just not as long lasting in my opinion.
[applicator] I don’t usually get picky about applicators on liquid lipsticks but I think because this specific lipstick has such a unique applicator I struggle with it. It’s shaped in an odd way; flat with a bit of a slant instead of a an angle.
In my honest opinion, if you are someone who doesn’t really care for makeup, doesn’t wear it often, and doesn’t want to commit to such an expensive product then feel free to PASS on this liquid lipstick. It’s a lot more expensive than most liquid lipsticks out there that do the same job. Although, if you are someone who doesn’t really care for makeup but IS WILLING to spend $36 USD on a product you KNOW you are going to use, and KNOW it will last you a long time, then GIRL DO IT. I personally adore this product, and I plan to buy at least one or two more colors. As I’ve stated this is the most expensive lipstick I own, but I think it’s worth the money. I don’t mind reapplying my lipstick, especially if it’s as comfortable as this one.
Have you tried this liquid lipstick? What are your thoughts? If you were on the fence about purchasing this product I hope I shed a little light in your decision. Leave me some thoughts below ❤
